Had my 1st fill yesterday and was given 5ccs and I feel no different, food and Water go down the same way as if I didn't have the band. No restriction whatsoever.

Can you eat more than 4/6 oz of food at a time? If so then you may need more... But 5ccs for the first fill is a lot. Give it a few weeks. Sometimes it takes a few days to feel the difference

food and Water aren't supposed to go down any different. The only thing the band is supposed to is satiate your hunger with less food for longer periods of time. Nothing else.

It doesn't even do that, I am hungry all the time and could eat alot more but I control my portion sizes, after 30 minutes or so I am hungry again.

Then it sounds like you just haven't found your Green Zone yet. I know it's hard but most people do require multiple fills before they have adequate Fluid in their bands. And 5cc is a very big fill, so I'm guessing good restriction will come quicker than later.

Be patient, it'll happen :)

I go back in 4 weeks, but the max my band can take is 9ccs so I am hoping to get some restriction soon.

As you get close to the Green Zone, you'll be shocked how big a difference even the smallest fill can make. Even a fill as small as .2cc can make a huge difference, so don't worry about running out of room in your band. You still have a lot of room for fills.

Ok i dont know why mis73 keeps telling everyone that the band is not suppose to help you feel full. Its designed to help you feel full, feel full longer and with less food. Heres a clip from the web

Adjustments

The lap band works by decreasing the size of the stomach as well as making the stomach feel full longer. The lap band makes you feel full by inflating a small balloon located inside of the device. This balloon can continually be inflated and deflated by outside control. It also allows the physician to expand the balloon if complications occur. To expand the lap band a small amount of saline solution is inserted into the device through an access port just underneath the skin

Now me personally feel full all day long when i dont even eat a damn thing. My stomach could be growling like a damn bear but i feel full/no hungry. Now its not designed to to make you feel stuffed or anything but it does help you to feel full plain and simple.

Not trying to scare you (as this may not be the issue at all) but it is a possibility that there is a leak in your tube. Since your doctor didn't do the fill under florascopy (most likely anyway) there is a risk there is a leak there which is why you feel no difference.

Again, I'm not saying this is it....but it is a possibility. Just rather you be informed either way.

P.S. With all the trial and error that the Doctors due (to try to find your port during a fill) it seems common sense that the port tubing could get accidentally pricked in the process. Hence...causing people to lose their fill and no one would know until the next fill (because the fill wasn't done under florascopy).

wise, i dont think there is a a (leak)..

but MD is right in saying things COULD happen but dont worry about things that are not occurring right now with your band. you are still newly banded and most likely still healing alittle bit also.

the more fills you get, the more it should help you eat less.

it wont make you (un hungry though). its us to you to eat your Protein *to make you full* and try to hang in there until you get the fills to where they need to be.

so just do what you can. remember to eat to live and not live to eat. all the best honey.

If you look at all her post she tells everyone its not to help you feel full. But it does. She is sending the wrong message out to everyone. It also help control how much you can eat. Yes there is certain points when you can eat more then you should and thats when self control comes in but she needs explain that instead of just say the band doesnt do this and that and doesnt help with all of this. It does.

I say that because it's fact. It's not supposed to give you that full feeling you had before surgery. Too often people strive for that and end up over filled and too tight because of it. It's supposed to satiate your hunger for longer periods of time on less food.< /p>

Here's some education on the topic from one of the leaders in the field: http://drsimpson.net...estriction.html

"When talking about the band, some patients talk about restriction. Let's first be clear about one thing: the purpose of the band is not restriction; the purpose of the band is to lose weight by suppressing the appetite."

"When you eat Thanksgiving dinner, you can feel stuffed. Contrast that with the sensation two hours after you eat your big meal, at that point your appetite is suppressed. It is the subtle dimming of the appetite that the band should provide. Being stuffed after a large meal is a complicated sensation of the abdominal wall stretching and a lot of gas in the bowel, in addition to feeling a diminution of appetite. You will not, and should not, feel the abdominal wall stretch with the band. You should not feel the "near nausea" and you should not feel bloated.

Key point:

You should NEVER eat until you feel full. It is best to stop eating before you "feel full." If you do eat until you feel full you will most likely be overstuffed. This leads to the universal key to success -- patients who eat a small volume of food (which, if you measure, is consistent) will be successful with the band. If you want to succeed, you need to know how much you are eating, and then stop eating -- it is in your control, but the band will help you -- not by stopping you, but by allowing you to feel satisfied after the small volume."

But you need to explain when telling ppl its not to help you feel full by what you mean. Not full like before surgery full. And you should explain that its a lot of self control also, not just that the band doesnt help with anything. You make it sound like the band is there not even to help you. Just saying a lot of people are gettung the wrong idea of the band when things are properly explained.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
