Almost 10 Years Post Op But New Here :-)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone :-)

My name's Annette and in my enthusiasm to connect with online Lap Band community (I found and downloaded an iPhone app this morning, registered and posted within my first few minutes) I didn't even notice this "Introductions" board and went ahead and introduced myself on the "Post Op" Board. Oops, please forgive my newbie clumsiness. I'll learn my way around in time and appreciate your positive suggestions and compassionate feedback when I make mistakes.

If you have the time and interest, please take a look at my intro on "Post Op." I will read your introductions and I look forward to getting to know each of you over time.

As I share about on the other board, I've had my band since 2003 so I'd be happy to answer questions you may have about my experience as a long-time bandster but I also want to acknowledge that my experience (surgical, type of band, etc.) may be somewhat different or outdated compared to you fresh new Band owners :-) but I bet the overall journey of weight loss and the subsequent adjustments (physical, mental, emotional, social, and even spiritual) will be fairly similar. Thanks for being here! Talk to you soon :-)

~Annette

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
