Such A Failure

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone i was banded about 4 yrs ago, i lost nearly 7 stone in 9 months, then had a baby & hes 20 months old now, ive been slowly putting ALL of the weight back on again

I went to the hospital today to find out the reason for it... Its because its leaking & ive got to go back to have day surgery for a new port

I feel sooo angry for allowing myself to put all the weight back on again.. But ive got to lose the weight again for the sake of my baby, i owe it to him to get fitter/healthier, but i feel so ashamed & low.

Debbie: Not a failure! You had a baby and a leak! You'll get it fixed and then you're back on the program. It's probably surprising you didn't gain more than you did! You lost it before and you can lose it again. You have the advantage of being so much smarter about how the band works and what you need to do to get good results. Hang in there!

Thanks hun, I am more determend now, Im very lucky to have a baby out of this & to get back into control again..

They said its a common thing for a band to leak, I just wished i'd gone back way before now & i don't know why i didn't, I think i just got back into my bad old ways :(

That's okay, you're starting now, no beating up yourself up! Take care of the baby and take care of you!!! You did it once, you can do it again!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
