Yogurt, Frozen Or Not

Recommended Posts

OKay here is the question. I know ice cream is a no no, I know yogurt, low fat is okay. Is frozen yogurt ok? I know Popsicles are, I know the calories and carbs are a little higher, but could this be a once a week treat? Help?

To me too slippery of a slope. Would you want your doctor to see it in your grocery cart? I wouldn't. This is a life style change. Dessert should be more of a monthly treat. Harsh I know. If you have it you will eat it more than once a week.

There is technically no "no-no" or forbidden food. The only thing banded people aren't supposed to have is carbonation.

As for stuff like frozen yogurt, the key is moderation. I have had since being banded, however it's been a small serving and still fit into my daily caloric allowance. Plus, it's a rare treat, not a daily or even weekly occurrence.

Wow! That is a hard one. My doc would say no, but I say ask your doc because he/she will give a reason if the answer is no. Good Luck :)

Omg Healthy choice has these little frozen yogurt cups. 100 calories, vanilla raspberry & blueberry. I'm addicted. :) and I say there's nothing wrong with it. So :P

The less you allow yourself a food the more you are likely to want it.

So if you ban the frozen yogurt then you will crave that more. If you allow yourself treats then they do not have such a huge appeal.

For me the band was supposed to help me eat like a thin person. As far as I am aware thin people do not have banned foods they eat what they want when they want within moderation. What they do seem to do as well though is not force themselves to eat something they don't want just so they can eat something they do. E.G As a FFP (former fat person) if I wanted dessert or cake I would only eat it after I had eaten the rest of my meal as that is the rule isn't it? Heaven only knows who made these rules up in the first place. As a trying to be thin person if I want cake or something for lunch then I have it - not after eating some kind of savoury food first but instead of that food.

Probably the best way to handle this is to allow yourself so many calories per day for a treat. 100 calories or whatever. Then you can eat a treat without feeling guilty knowing that you are still sticking to your plan.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
