K so I think I read somewhere not to weigh myself for a while after surgery? Well I couldn't help it. I had surgery 48 hours ago and all I have had is a few cups of chicken broth and some Water but yet I have actually gained 2 lb..., does anyone know if that's normal ? Maybe swelling or the gas or something? I'm just so worried I'm going to be one of those that gains weight.

You had a ton of IV fluids....chill...and don't weigh yourself for a week post-op. it takes at least that long to return to normal Fluid balance.

I had surgery on the 20th and also have gained 2 lbs, on just the Clear Liquids. I am not too upset as I was warned these next weeks are all about healing and not losing weight. Keep up the good work!

It's totally normal to gain post weight post op...your body has experienced significant invasive trauma and is in the healing process.

It took two weeks post gall bladder surgery for my weight to return to what it had been prior to the surgery.

Try to resist the temptation to weigh yourself too often...it can create unnecessary negative thoughts. Small fluctuations in weight from day to day are normal.

Ok thank you guys! I will resist the temptation to weigh myself for a few weeks! Just had to make sure it was normal as I was not warned about that!

Yeah I gained a few pounds too. Was horrified but it came off. I thought it must be the fluids

Thank goodness. I was banded Tuesday 9/18 and have only lost four pounds. Was beginning to wonder how many liquid calories I was actually drinking. Glad to know I'm not alone.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
