Looks Like Band Removal For Me

Recommended Posts

Leenerbups, nobody knows what causes this stupid condition, and there's a possibility it will resolve itself when I'm unbanded. As dumb as a name it is, it you google it, you'll see that it's potentially serious. So those of us w/motility problems definately need to have them checked out/monitored.

Thanks for your concern.

The band can cause this? I guess with the band, there are potentially serious complications we are becoming aware of.

Did you have GERD or problems with your throat before banding?

I really do hope it's nothing permanent for you.

Karen, you've been though a rough year, the sickness of your DH, your numerous problems with the band and now this. I'm so sorry the band is causing this, I wish you the best....Big Hugs Girl!

PS,

How's your daughter doing with her band?

Karen,

I just saw this (your) post

I'm so sorry to hear of your band troubles. First and foremost, take care of yourself. I would be devistated if I was told that my band had to come out, but if it meant a healthier me, then by all means, take it out.

Your update post sounded a little more positive. I'll pray that everything works out and you won't have to have your band removed and you can get the other problems under control soon.

Please take care!! Hope your daughter is doing well :D

Tricia

Karen, Just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts!!! Band removal is not the end of the world....and just because "most" gain their weight back after band removal does not mean all!!!!! Take care!

Hey guys. Well, I went to the doc. He was pretty nice...a little puzzled that my pain has gone & he's sending me for another upper GI series (last one was several months ago) and ultrasound to rule out gallbladder. He was interested in gallbladder when I showed him where it hurt. Silly me, I thought that was where my band was, but I didn't even know where my stomach was! If the pain comes back, I'm to call him immediately, but he's pretty sure that a loose band & stopping the constipating meds did relieve my symptoms.

He did say that when a gastro. can't see the band on an endoscopy, that's a good sign. He's going to look at the films, cause they're @ the same hospital.

So, upper GI next week, ultrasound the week after.

Leenerbups, everyone's pretty certain that the band DID NOT cause my esoph. problems, but that in people who are either pre-disposed or just beginning esoph. issues, it can manifest sooner after being banded. It's like the plumbing just doesn't all work right. Also, BEFORE banding I had reflux big time, and Dr. Ortiz said that after banding, I wouldn't have it anymore. And I don't. Go figure!

That's it for now, I guess. I'm glad I don't seem to have to do anything this minute, hubby's having liver biopsy tomorrow & endoscopy next week (he's anemic, which men aren't supposed to be--seems if they are, they're losing blood somewhere internally) AND my mom's having back surgery in the next few weeks. Never a dull moment!

Thanks for all your kind works, I'll keep ya all posted!

Karen, it almost sounds like the problems you were/are having may not be band related??? (crossing my fingers)

My goodness, you sure have a busy time ahead... all the doctor visits between you, hubby & mom.

Im really concerned about your husbands condition. Please keep us posted.

God bless!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
