First Fill Finally Today!

Recommended Posts

Just had my first fill. That was not bad AT ALL. I was scared. I wasn't numbed or anything and it was simple. He put in 2.5 cc and after drinking Water I can feel it, but not bad. He said he would be a little aggressive for the first one, but if in the morning, I am too tight we need to take some out.

I have lost 15 pounds since I started by band journey, so I guess I am not a complete failure even though i've eaten like I wanted for about 8 months.

@Kellysue: im confused... why did your first fill happen eight months later. That seems like a very long time! Heck, in that much time ive been known to gain 50 pounds. (Of course, I hope never to do "that" again post op). Still eight months of will power... yikes! :)

A lot of it was my schedule and the fill clinic. There is only one place to get it here so I had to go off his schedule and it was just difficult.

I wouldn't say I had will power though ;)

Congrats on your first fill! I go in for my first on the 17th, it will be 4 weeks post op... I am nervous as well, my Dr. does 5cc the first time and then 1cc every two weeks till green zone is found... but I am nervous! I am glad to hear that it wasn't too bad for you... good luck and keep us posted how you do!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
