Brief Moment Of Willpower

Recommended Posts

I had the ultimate test of willpower today. I am sitting in a faculty meeting around 3:45, and we have about 50 pizza delivered, every topping, every type. They sit four pizzas at every meeing table. I wanted a slice so bad, but i knew it would only get stuck, make me hurl, and probably make my already tender tummy hurt even worse. i have not had to throw up yet and I know my will power will probably be way less once i know my incisions have healed and it is less likely that i will damage my band. BUT today right as I drink another bowl of beef broth i fell damn good about myself.icon_lock.png ·

Good for you. I was in a meeting that went long today so my boss, who is one of 6 people who I have told, say he wants to get his lunch before we start our confernece call. Greasy drippy cheeseburger, fried onions, soft bun and all the toppings, the smell was to die for - all homemade and heated up at work. And me, starving, didn't think I had enough time to get my shake made........... Shake it was........move on.

Yes, you did great...and should be proud of your choices!

I remember that the day before my surgery, I had to host a luncheon for my woman's club (I had agreed to the date months prior to knowing my surgery date). It was held at one of the best restaurants in town...I watched everyone enjoy their Entrees...and I sipped on ice Water. But do what you know you need to do for your own well being.

You successfully passed one of what will likely be many such tests...well done!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
