Hi from Keller, TX

Hi All!

I've not been banded yet! I went to a seminar of Dr. Sewell, Southlake, TX. I will be a self-pay! His fee is $18,800 for 1 yr of service. I'm interested in info on Dr. Benevides, Dallas, TX of Dr. Smith, Hurst, TX. Does anone know if I decide on a different phy do I have to attend their seminar too before making an appt? Also, what is the average wait time from appt date to surgery date? I've done alot of research on LB and am SOOOO ready, just trying to decide on the doctor.

Also, one thing I'm dreading is the Protein Shakes. I can't stand that stuff. Any good receipes? Any suggestions for alternate methods of liquid Protein that might taste good!! :hungry:

I'm new to this site but am sooooo glad I found it! I know there is a "vote" going on about people being able to access this site from a google search. That is how I found this site and am glad I did!! :clap2:

Thanks for your help!!

Tina

Hi Tina. We're really glad you're here. It always nice to welcome another Texan. As you've already discovered, this is an awesome place for information and support. If you will look under the section on foods, you will find information of Protein Drinks. You can also do a search and come up with some good results. Good luck and happy reading!

Hi, I'm in the Mesquite area.

I know that Dr. Rodriquez has a good reputation.

My hubby and I both used Dr. Robert Powell in Richardson. I would highly recommend him as well. I'm not sure what he charges for self-pay, but he is an excellent surgeon.

Best of luck to you!! I look foward to meeting you at a future DFW get together!!

Hi Carrie!

Thx for the reply! I've scheduled a consultation with Dr. Robert Sewell in Southlake on Thursday, 3-30-06, 9:00 am. YEA! YEA! His self-pay price ($18,800) is higher than some others, but I've heard alot of good things about him. I did attend his seminar!!

Keep your fingers crossed for me!! :):P

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
