Hi All. I'm a three days post op and feeling pretty good. Have had so much trouble taking in enough Water and Protein. I am barely taking in half of my required amounts because there is just no room! How do you all do it?

Hey! Congratulations! You're probably still a bit swollen from surgery, so it will get easier. Quite frankly, things will change a lot before you achieve your new "normal." At least they did for me. Before long it will all feel like it's always been a part of you. Just follow your doctors orders to the letter, and realize that your success depends on you and you'll do great. Best of luck with it!

D.

My surgeon told me to work up to getting the 6-8 glasses of Water and 60 grams of Protein. You are still very swollen after surgery so you have to build up to it. Do as much as you can and gradually build it up each day. ;-) Congratulations!!

just continue to sip sip sip and still sip some more

once the healing is progressing more, you will be able to get more down

just focus on your Protein as that is what feeds your body :)

all the best and hang in there, it will get easier, i promise...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
