Dilated Pouch Or Band Slip

Recommended Posts

Yes we are supposed to drink lots of Water, and from Water coolers is fine. I just picked up a carbonated water by mistake. My fault.

Did the taste shock you??? LOL, I think carbonated water is sooooo gross.

I just found out today that I have to have revision surgery to correct an incorrect band placement. Is the recovery time the same as for the first surgery?

I would think so. What does your surgeon say?

But... it's hard to predict these things. My recovery from having my flipped port repositioned was harder on me than my original band surgery. My recovery from having my band removed was a piece of cake (but without frosting). My recovery from my sleeve surgery is going fine but it's been harder on me overall - I get tired so easily and don't have much energy.

In my general experience of recovering from surgeries (including an abdominal hysterectomy and a breast reduction), the longer I'm anesthetized for the procedure, the longer my recovery. And since any kind of revision requires the surgeon to deal with scar tissue, I think that probably adds to the time you spend in the operating room.

I'm with you on that. And another nasty thing about it is the way it seems to burn as it goes down my esophagus.

That's probably why you can get spaghetti sauce out of a white shirt with it.LOL

Been there, done that!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
