I did. Popped a marshmallow Peep in my mouth from Easter candy about 2 weeks post op. Chewed and spit it out in the garbage. Was very satisfied to just have the taste. And it curbed my craving.

i have done this before, i dont see it as a bad thing as long as it doesn't become a habit.

I did this during my pre op diet, and have a few time after surgery. The way i see it is the only reason you really want to eat it is for the taste so just chew it and spit it. It worked for me.

I do this when I realize that I'm eating a carb/bread before something else. I can't do that. Sometimes I pop it in before I really think. Did that this morning with my son's left over waffle. Then tried a sip of Protein Shake a few minutes later.......DON'T EVER DO THAT~!

I did it alot post-surgery. I don't do it now, come to think of it, but heck yeah, when I was adjsuting to the eating and all that jazz...once I picked up a piece of smoked beef susage kielbasi stuff that hubby grilled for him and the kids...I sucked that juicy fat right outta the end of it. Boy was that good.

I was just watching a show on this last night. It's considered to be an eating disorder.

Well umm didint we all have eating disorders pre-banding? Werent we all complulsive over eaters? Were just trading one disorder for the next...

I'm with ya Jack! Like celery! I had a bite of lowfat potato salad and after setting my jaw to pulverize I realized there was a small bit of celery Fiber that would probably start picking a fight with 'puckers'. So out it went.

I have spit perfectly wonderful bites into the trash though. When the full feeling hits while I am chewing I weigh my options carefully. Spit, or swallow and PB.

 GREAT QUESTION!!!!

I have done this. I wondered if I was a freak. Not very often though. What I seem to have noticed, which I was sooooo surprised about, was that the swallowing provides much of the satisfaction. Werid, huh? Anybody else notice that? :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
