2Nd Day Post Op With 100.8 Fever

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery yesterday morning. I was in a lot of pain yesterday, but today has been better. But I've felt like I've had the chills a little bit. I took my temp and it is 100.8. I called the dr and he said to come in to his office tomorrow. But I'm still stressed for right one. Anyone gone through this?

I didn't have one that high, mine went up to 99.9 but I was told if it got up to 101 to call. You were right in calling the doctor and glad he told you to come in. Hope all is well tomorrow.

it's not unusual to spike a little temp after surgery ( just the body's reaction to the procedure) but it's good to notify and see the doc just in case it is infection going on somewhere,,,,

Wow. Home already? My doc keeps you in till at least the next day. The reason I mention that is because that means someone taking bp, pulse, and temp every four hours. I know that my temp never went over 98 (actually never even got to 98), but my point is they are checking for a reason. Call! Let the docs make the decisions, that's what they are paid for. And they want good outcomes also. Feel better!

Sorry! Just realized you have called! I'll blame that on my lowered bp! Keep us informed, and again good luck and feel better fast!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
