Do I Need Another Fill?

Recommended Posts

How can I tell if I need another fill? I had my 2nd fill last week and I now have 6 cc's in my 10 cc band. I'm eating exactly as instructed and I feel like I'm always hungry. I log my food religiously at 1200 calories a day, concentrating on Protein first. I'm losing about 4 pounds a week now that I finally have some restriction but this constant hunger is killing me. Do I need another fill?

If you are getting hungry quicker than 3 to 4 hours after eating a proper bandster portion, starting with Protein, and all that jazz, then I'd say you need a fill.

You are probably losing right now, because you are being super diligent with your calorie intake. Good job, that's hard to do for many people :)

Maybe see if they can give you a smaller fill now. I found a huge difference between 6.2 and 6.4 ccs. I'm contemplating another 0.2cc fill next month, but I'm doing really well at the moment myself.

I agree with running_scared. One of the main features of the band is that when it's adjusted properly it reduces (or eliminates) hunger between small meals. You're losing because you're being so diligent. When you get properly filled, it will become exponentially easier because you won't be hungry all the time.

The biggest "ah ha" moment I had was when my doctor recommended I watch a few videos on YouTube. Go there and search for "Dr. Paul O'Brien 8 Rules Intro." This guy is an Australian doctor who's probably the most experienced Lap-Band surgeon on the planet. He explains the mechanisms that make the band work. I was having trouble putting everything together until I watched the 4 intro videos.

Good luck!

D.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
