When Does The Gas Pain End??

Recommended Posts

I've notices on this and some other discussions that people at a similar stage to me ( 5 days post op) discussing there need/not need to use their pain meds.

Can I ask some of you what pain meds you were sent home with and the length of time your doc said you would need use of them?

As I said before I am 5 days post op and was sent home with NOTHING!! I've been suffering in silence and am beginning to think my doc is just plain meanîî

I was sent home with percocet, it was making me nauseous so I did'nt take anything on day 2 and it was awful. I called and they gave me another for the nausea called zofran. I have only been taking it a couple of times a day. I can't believe they sent you home with nothing!! I would call and ask for something! I hope you get some relief soon!

I was lucky as my shoulder gas hurt the first night after surgery. Once I felt it I got off the bed into a chair near pc and put heating pad on me and then I fell asleep in my chair. The next morning for about an hour moe then it disappeared.

I am day 11 post op and my is just as bad as day 1. I have taking gas x, walked, meds, you name it. Nothing has helped!!!!

I have been hearing mixed things about the Gas X. Some say that it doesn't work because the gas isn't directly in the intestines?! I went through almost a whole box but not going to get anymore. I am like you and have been walking etc. and nothing helps. It is coming out though but as fast as it goes out it builds right back up again. So weird! I wonder if it has anything to do with my Protein shake?! I vaguely remember feeling bloated drinking the shakes pre surgery. I have the Premier ones from costco. I think I'll go buy the whey today at GNC and see if that is better. Good luck to you :)

I'm with you Roxygirl I'm still fighting the gas and pain and soreness. The pain is dropping and I'm lowering the amount I use. I'm down to about every 8 hrs for the pain meds. I think part of my pain/soreness is because a port site is on my left side and my left arm basically sits on it. I try to move it but its my paralyzed arm from my stroke so I can only do so much. I'm walking, drinking my Water, trying to get in my Protein. I've yet to have a bm. i'm taking my liquid Colace so I'm sure that is contributing to things. If things mellow out they just fill back up. grrrrrrrrrrr

I have been the same I will pass all the gas my stomach goes down & then I'm swollen again so this last time I drank something at least 1oz every 15min (I set my alarm clock) & it didn't come back I think my stomach fills with air when its empty try it and see if it works for you I added really runny cream of wheat its a little heavier than my protien shakes this reminds me of a new born with collick the formula does not keep them full so their tummy fills with air & the gas is painful since ive been doing this i am doing much better I even walked around the block today hope I help some

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
