Boyfriend Totally Against Me Getting Lap Band

Recommended Posts

Good for you. No one should tell you what you want to do...its your decision' date=' especially when it comes to your body. My bf was excited for my surgery, because he knew that's what I wanted. I had surgery back in dec 08, lost 70 lbs and no more ( still trying) but he is proud of me and I'm proud of myself too. Good luck :)[/quote']

Thanks redsoxfan I can't wait till I have a story congrats on your weight loss

I didn't even tell my husband until I had decided and scheduled the surgery. It was my decision and mine alone. It is my body and because the risk was so low on the surgery part, I didn't feel like he would need to have a final say. He was fine with it and is happy that I am happier with my body. He was one that was happy either way fat or skinny... But since he is only your boyfriend at this point, he really doesn't have say at all. JMO goodluck!!

Your boyfriend is putting his fears ahead of your happiness. That's not the way it's supposed to be. I agree with you, he may see his fears realized if he doesn't change his thinking.

Congratulations on the surgery! I just had my psych eval today and am waiting for a surgery date. Whooo Hoooo!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
