Lost My Way

Recommended Posts

I have had my band since 08 but after losing 100 I have seemed to gain 50 back. I'm so week but have every reason to be strong. What's my problem and why can't I find myself.....

It's easy to revert back to the life style we lived for so many years. Being banded means a forever lifestyle change, not a diet. I am having to work on changing my thinking as well as my habits and I doubt I will ever be able to live on autopilot when it come to my eating. I will always have to be vigiliant when it comes to what and how much I consume.

Hope back on the "band" wagon and do it. Put one foot in front of the other and start making the changes to get back on course. If you feel like it's really a mental thing talk to a psychologist. Nothing wrong with admitting you need help.

I've often wondered how I will react a few years from now. Of course, I don't have the history and experience you've accumulated but it seems like the only way to back slide would be if your band is too loose or you constantly eat around the band? No one can keep you from eating around the band but you. I would think that to jump start the process again would be to get a tight fill so that you feel restriction and enough restriction that you have to begin to think about what you are putting into your body?

That's all I got.

I too fell off the wagon and put back 20kg, now lost 10kg again, I found as long as I stuck to real food I couldn't eat much, so that's what I did and cut the junk out, I still have one or two small fun size chocolates cause I can't live without those, but mainly I decided real food, would love to chat more and keep each other on track

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
