Can you be stuck but with no pain? I feel lots of mucous in my throat and I want to keep swallowing cause it feels like food is still in my throat. no pain, just wondering if this could be my stuck?

Yeah. That is a stuck that is just not big enough to be painful. Lettuce does that to me if I don't chew it up enough, because it lays flat, I guess, and blocks everything from going down. Give it a few, walk around. You can take papaya extract if you have it and it helps break it down, otherwise you may have to make it come up. =/

sounds like it. I've had my band for 4 years and sometimes things still get stuck. I find that this happens when don't chew my food extremely well, or when I don't crush or cut my larger medications. Sometimes if I eat something doughy, then take a drink of something; stuck! When you feel that you want to keep swallowing, and you are mucousy, go to the restroom and stand over the toilet like when you are going to vomit, you won't vomit, all the mucousy stuff will just fall out, it's disgusting but you will eventually become unstuck and feel better. DO NOT STICK YOUR FINGER DOWN YOUR THROAT!! Vomiting is a bad thing when you have a band. There is a very large chance of slippage from vomiting. Lean over the toilet and just open your mouth. LOL have fun!

I jump about a little thanks God no one has caught me at work doing it yet, but if it's mild it will drop in , if not out it must come.. the papaya pills are a charm.. I have noticed for me the sinus'allergy season is murder. Today i was able to eat just fine- Ate the same thing last week with my allergies going nuts- I couldn't swallow it with out getting stuck.. weird,,, but we learn as we go..

Yeah, you could be stuck. So I posted this a few months ago but I got stuck pretty bad on some food(can't remember what) and I had just drank some Water prior to eating. So, I went over to a wall, stood on my head(with the help of my forearms) and the Water in my lower stomach pushed it away. Then the same liquid helped the food pass through my portal when I sat upright.

Lesson learned? NOT! I chew and take much smaller bites now but I still get stuck about 3 times a week. Small episodes of stuck now so I'm not miserable like before. But I still get distracted and shove toomuch food in my piehole sometimes.

Thank you all for the knowledge. It's greatly appreciated! Being stuck is no fun but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
