Just Got My Surgery Date!! 8/23

Recommended Posts

August 23! Locked and loaded! But everything is still in aetna's hands, they tell me I should know by this upcoming wednesday. My dr. Gives my approval "good odds" based on his experience but I had to tell him I wouldn't hold him to it :)

Had all of my pre-op tests yesterday... Blood, urine, intake with anasthesiologist, 3 hour class on nutrition right after surgery, pre-op diet detail... The works! I only have a 2 day liquid diet but I'm going to do at least 5-7 days. My liver is apparently a fatty one so I'm going to shrink it up as much as I can.

I'm not religious, but finding myself praying for insurance approval! I want this so badly. I need this.

These boards have been so wonderful and inspirational... Will keep you all posted! And good luck to you all.

Oh, any other band buddies for 8/23???

Jason

I got banded on 8-1-12. I understand your excitement and nervousness about the insurance. I have been trying off and on for 20 years to get some kind of bariatric surgery. I found out in April that the Cigna my company paid for this year would cover it. So I was in a crunch to get the approval and all the testing and jump through all of the hoops before they changed it again the end of August! haha. But its mine now and they can't take it away from me!!! The surgery went great, but then if you want this and need this as badly as I did, anything short of excruciating pain would be worth it!!! I am only 4 days post op and I can feel the differences already. My skin feels looser and my face looks different already. I have to lose 170 lbs to reach my goal weight. I feel better already. Good luck on your surgery, keep us updated. I'm so excited for you!

Congrats! The waiting for my surgery day to come was probably the most hardest/most anxiety inducing wait I have ever had in my life.

Adding onto what lucie said; I'm just about two weeks post-op and I, as well as everyone around me, has already noticed amazing changes in such a short time.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
