To Fill... Or Not To Fill ???

Recommended Posts

I just dont know if I should get a fill. I have a 11c realize band, currently with 5.2cc. down 38-40 lbs.

My last fill was a couple of months ago, but I haven't lost anymore weight. First, I have to admit that I haven't had my head in the game but WOW the amount of food I can eat!

I can go 4-5 hours between meals, only get head hungry and end up grabbing a snack. If I eat too fast or to big of a bite I will spend time slimming. I have never thrown up but have come close.

I am going to really watch my eating this week and decide about the fill before my Aug 13th fill but could sure use some advise.

Your thoughts ??

Sounds like you're near the green zone so make a huge attempt at following the rules for a couple of weeks. Sounds like one more small fill could get you there.

Yep I was just there! Felt like grazing and eating faster between meal times. Very slow weight loss but high intensity exercising. So I wasn't sure if that's why I was getting hungrier! So, I did just get my 10 band adjusted from 5.5 to 1/4cc more. I think this may be the magic move to jump start my weight loss, three days of full liquids. Don't want to throw up or slime, that's just too much restriction. This is a tough time, this band like a toddler at times!!!

I think you answered your own question if your head is not in the game it will not matter how tight you make the band. It is a tool and you have to have the mindset to use it.

Thank you for your advise. I am really going to work on my head and on the 13th do just a small fill and follow with liquid for a couple of days. Great advise !

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
