First Fill Today, Feels Like The Real Beginning

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill today. I am so excited. I think I feel more excited than I did getting the band initially. I feel like this is the real start of my future. I know not to expect much restriction, but I am making a step in the right direction. I got 3cc put in, I am on a liquid diet for 24 hours and then a day of mushies, then back to regular food as I can tolerate it.

on the down side.. hungry already!! but I will get through this, this part is nothing compared to the initial post op diet!

i hadmy first fill today and i fill the same way :) I have 5cc in my band and am also on 24hrs liquid 24hrs pureed.

I am also super hungry right now too lol. My Protein shake really didn't cut it :P.

I go back every 4 weeks until I'm at my 'sweet spot'. They add 1cc each visit until I'm close and then they will go to 0.5cc and 0.25cc if necessary. They said that the goal with my current fill is to not gain any wait and with the next 2 fills or so I should start going down steadily.

I can't wait to be a success story. i feel like for the first tie in my life, I could be one.

You are going to be hungry on the shakes - they go right trough the band. Remember, they are liquid. When you eat real food you will start to feel the difference. Enjoy the journey! That first restriction is exciting.

I had mine yesterday. I am starving ;) but will get through this. I am jealous of you guys, they only put 1.5cc in mine. BUT the good news is they want me to come back every two weeks until green zone so I hope to be there soon. Best of luck to you!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
