So I've Started Running

Recommended Posts

The past two weeks, I started running around 30-45 minutes a day. Sometimes on a tread...sometimes outside.

My issue is....NIPPLE BURN!!!!

I've never been a runner so this is very new to me. I have been running in cotton shirts but today I ran in my Under Armour but still had issues.

Any one else have/had the issue and any suggestions?

Put a band aid over them , it should help. I used to do that in the 80s when I went out wearing one of those tops that looked like it was made of chain mail and it worked .

Get some body armour, it's like roll on deordarant but it's for runners to keep you from chafing, also always wear self wicking fabrics. You can find Body Armour at a running store, academy or order it online at Amazon. About $12 bucks, it's a life saver and it'll keep you from developing bleeding nipples when you go on longer runs. Women don't get the chafing nipples because of the sports bras. Good luck and happy running!

I used to run half marathons and also ran 23 years in the Marine corps, the best thing I have found to prevent nipple burn/rub was a simple bandaid! Hope this helps

1) BodyGlide

2) synthetic clothing (polyester). AVOID Cotton !!

3) compression shirt/shorts

Band aids can help too as others mentioned but Bodyglide and polyester will take care of chafed bleeding nipples.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
