Tight Lap Band ~ Am Vs Pm (?)

Recommended Posts

I had lap band surgery on April 9th; 1st fill on June 6th (with NO restriction); had 2nd fill in July (WITH restriction now, YEAH)

I have noticied that my band is tight in the mornings. It seems to loosen up as the day goes on. Can someone explain why this happens or if it happens to you as well (?)

Thanks

yes, in the mornings i feel i am (tighter) and not hungry at all.

i have heard from other postings on here that happens (when at night we lay flat)......but i consider it a good thing. i do think it may loosen up

later on the day.

(i have no fills yet, just plication)

My band is tighter in a morning. I drink warm liquid (coffee) to help loosen it up. Then about 2 hour after I wake up I can eat. As the day goes on it gets looser.....come evening it can feel too loose. Plus it veries from day to day. You will learn how finical your band can be. Lol.

Mine is tons tighter in the mornings. I have a Protein shake for Breakfast every morning because I'm simply too tight and not hungry enough for actual food.

Interestingly, if I take a nap during the day, when I get up it's really tight all over again.

In stark contrast, at night I could the entire fridge if I wanted to. There's a huge difference in my band tightness from morning to evening.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
