Until last week I have had absolutely no problems. After my first fill (3 cc) I had pretty good restriction (at least in my opinion). I had lost 15 pounds in 4 weeks...and was feeling and doing great. Went in for my next appointment and had 1 cc added. The first 4 days were fine. No problems. Then all of a sudden I started having stuck episodes (no PBing though...thank goodness). After each time I felt lots of pain in my chest, gurgling in my throat, and became sweaty. After sitting, walking, taking off my bra (sorry, TMI), waiting...some times I could continue with a little more consumption...sometimes I was not able to eat...I hurt so bad I would not risk trying to put anything else in my mouth.

I'm so confused. Sometimes I am great, sometimes not...but I never had any issues before my second fill.

Do I need an unfill? Is it possible I hit my sweet spot with my very first fill and my second was too much? I'm so confused...

Help!!!

After each fill it can take time to relearn how and what to eat.

Make sure that you are following the rules carefully. Small bites, chew thoroughly, wait between bites etc. If you are still having problems then take a look at what you are eating. Maybe you are trying to eat foods that will no longer agree with your band. Experiment a little e.g

You might find that dry white chicken breast gets stuck but nice moist thigh meat doesn't.

If you are trying to eat steak or pork chops you might want to try swapping those for burgers and moist roasts or pot roasts or fooded cooked in a crockpot.

If you after doing all this you are still having problems then maybe you do need a little taken out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
