About To Have Sugery In Two Days!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I am new here and I'm so glad I found this sight. My name is Ruffian and I am due to have the Lap band done this Friday. I am new to the Jacsonville are and would like to talk to some of the Florida people but it said I needed a password. Any kind of info and or advice I am all ears. Thanks for reading.

Wow, you are so close to start your new journey. I have to wait 13 days for mine but I'm so ready. I will also go Lapband and I hope to use this tool as best as I can. I'm tired of a big yo-yo that I've been on for years. I have all my food products ready for the first month and 6 months of chewable Vitamins.

Best wishes on your band day, Ruffian. Check in and tell us how you're feeling. Lots of experts and forum members who ahve gone through this already to assist all of us. All you have to do is ask.

Good luck to all of you. I have been banded over 2 yrs and it was the best decision I have ever made. Have patience, ask lots of questions and follow the band rules.

Welcome

Wendy

You will soon find the members on this site to be encouraging, reassuring and inspirational. And there's no sugar-coating here :) I've learned so much from the experiences of others who already been banded. Congrats again on your big day. God Bless you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
