Couch to 5K! Awesome program, I started it in 2009, and I was able to teach myself to run, although slow I run! I've completed two Half Marathons and 4 10K's! Hoping to lose weight when I'm banded to eventually get faster. My average pace is about a 14 minute mile!

I have done Couch to 5K and recently started training with the ap Ease into 5K. I like Ease into 5K better. I like the intervals better... and I can listen to my own music... and it syncs with Nike+.

Love it. Check it out.

I just started really exercising for the first time in years last week. I just decided I'm going to run in a 5k. I was amazed at how big of a motivator it has been. I did 2.5 miles today in 37 minutes. Shocked has been the word of the week for me. I cannot believe I had not done this before!

The C25K I think will work for some but not for everyone. I think that you have committed to running in a 5k is the bigger deal.

Let's face it, it's been the lack of motivation that got me to 320 and the band is just a tool to get me to where I want to be...but if I'm not committed...it's not going to matter!

Big high 5 and cheers to you!!!

You guys are really helping with the motivation here. I have been stalled for three weeks since we came home from vacation. Monday the whole family is going to the gym. I got the couch to 5K ready to roll. I am sure I will need to repeat some weeks but I would like to work up to a 5K. I dont need fast just to be able to finish. I have set a goal to run the Jingle Bell Run this Holiday season. As someone who has never NEVER run anywhere this is a challenge. Ready for the challenge and to try something new. Hugs!!!

Just an update! I did day one of Couch to 5K. I completed it and couldnt believe it. I know to many that seems silly but this would have never happened a year ago. I am ready for day two on Wednesday! Thanks for the motivation.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
