I'm Really Doing It!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I'm Rachel, I'm 29 years old and I am looking forward to my first surgical consult visit on 8/2. I'm so excited and nervous and anxious and basically, you name the emotion and I'm feeling it.

I have struggled with my weight forever... diet after diet, workout after workout, three kids and 300 pounds later, here I am. I was getting to a point where I felt totally and completely helpless over my weight. I would step on the scale and think... when did this happen? How did I let myself get here? I don't want to believe that those numbers represent who I am and how people see me. It is truly depressing and I don't want to live like that anymore!

I am so blessed to have a supportive husband who has loved me unconditionally even when I didn't love myself, three beautiful children who I would do anything for, and extended family and friends who want me to be successful in my journey. I am so ready to start over, LIVE my life, ENJOY my children, and most importantly, be around to watch them grow up!

I am really excited to have found this forum and connect with others who are on the same journey!

Hello and welcome!!

First, congratulations on your decision! You attitude is wonderfully optimistic and it will help you so much through this journey. The fact you have such a supportive family will help, too.

Best wishes!

Hey Rachel..... I feel like I'm reading my own history when I read your post. Except your 10 years younger and about 50 lbs lighter lol... I just started my adventure into lapband and a healthier life. I'm scared, nervous and excited. I wish you ALL the luck in the world. My seminar is this Friday. Already gathered all my medical records and started my 6 month weight loss with dr. supervision. Looks like we are doing it around the same time..... We will both have WONDERFUL success... I just know it lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
