You should be on liquids for two days after a fill. Swelling occurs naturally after the stomach has been manipulated. Then start out eating very small and listen to your body and pay attention to when you feel full and stop eating.

My doc recommends full.fluids first day after a fill, soft mushy 2nd day. Also, 2.5 to 5 seems pretty aggressive? Usually I get only a few cc at a time

Call your dr and check. All drs have different guidelines for eating after a fill but you may be a little tight.

Every doctor is different, but most recommend liquids for the first day after a fill at minimum. You have probably irritated your stomach, which is likely already swollen from the fill, so now anything you eat is giving you problems.

Go on only liquids for the next 24 hours to let your stomach calm and the swelling subside. Then, go to soft foods for 24 hours, then ease your way back into normal food very carefully.

When you do go back on normal food, be sure to take very small bites, chew it until much, and pause between bites. Every time you get a fill will be a learning experience with the band so be patient and go slow.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
