Uncomfortable After Eating, At Port Site?.

Recommended Posts

After I eat my port site seems to get uncomfortable almost painful. I have been banded for 2 months and was wondering if anyone else was uncomfortable like this. I had a fill at about 4 weeks post op. But I have never done a barrium or any other x-ray to see that everthing is in place there is lots and lots of scar tissue built up around the port and the band site . I was wondering if any one was uncomfortable or if this could be an infection or erosion..Thanks in advance

hi - i've been banded since 11.18.05 and had a fill in Jan of this year - anyhow, i have also noticed some slight pain around my port side after eating - i think for me it is when I am on the border of eating too much - i don't understand it and it is very minor for me but noticeable.

I have been banded since 02/27/04 and get this affect also. I think sometimes the liquid inside is pushed up the line to the port and somehow makes it move in doing so? and irritates it? anyway I get it also. Trish

If you have this problem, where is your port located? This little detail could be important.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
