Introducing Myself! (A Bit Long)

Recommended Posts

Hope your journey for you Lori will be all you expect. I am also new to this forum and have my first seminar next Tues eve. I am so excited. I have tried everything as well as many of you here and need this surgery for several reasons...main one is for my health. I am 5'2 and weigh 224. I have other medical issues due to this weight so its a true blessing for me to no in this journey. Anyone from ROME ga? Would live a mentor/partner to go through this together. My bf supports me in this although most of my friends just don't get it. I can't wait!

Good luck Lori. I am a newbie as well and share your excitement and fears. It sounds like you are a faithful daughter, mother and friend to those who know you. I am sure your Dad is smiling down on you. It's your turn now. :)

Thank you everyone! It's so amazing to already be part of this community and I've only just begun. It only reassures me that I'm making the right decision. I got my phone call from the surgeon yesterday that my insurance does cover and they moved my appointment up a day to Thursday 7/19 for my initial consultation. I'm feeling like the ball is really rolling now!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
