Good Morning!!

I'm supposed to be banded on 7/20/12. Went and had my pre-op testing done on Monday, no problem. Went to my pre-op appointment with my surgeon to find out I had a abnormal EKG and a UTI. Had no clue about that. So now this need to be taken care of before I get medical clearance. Did this happen to any of you?

Your input is greatly appreciated!!

Stephanie

I also had an abnormal EKG and had to have a stress test and echocardiogram in order to get clearance for surgery. Both tests came back normal and I had surgery as scheduled. Apparently, it's quite common to have an abnormal EKG.

HI! Having surgery on July 24, 2012. My regular MD did my first EKG at her office and it came back abnormal, I had to have a Cardio clearance also so we had him repeat it and it came back normal. Good Luck with everything :)

I had an abnormal EKG, then and abnormal PET (cardiac stress) test, which then lead to a heart catheter... in the end I received the "ALL CLEAR" and had lap band surgery but WHEW that was a lot of extra testing ~ good luck ~

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
