I've lost 102 pounds in a year, and gone from a size 20 to a size 8. I feel great, and this site has given me lots of support and inspiration--although I've not posted until just today (I know--strange).

Even though I haven't had a chance to update my ticker, I am now down 101 since last August. So please add me to the list. :)

I'm just checking in to say that this thread is full of big losers! And I'm so happy for each of you! My goal is to join y'all by the end of September. That would put me over 100 pounds lost in 9 months. I can live with that!

Hello. I am new to this board. I have lost 100 pounds since my surgery November 2003. I would like to lose another 50 lbs before I contemplate cosmetic surgery for the sagging skin. While I am thrilled that I have lost this much, I feel that the journey has been a very slow process for me. I seem to hover over 180 lbs and can seem to do anything about it. Has anyone or is anyone experiencing this and has made a break through?

Don't get me wrong. I am thrilled that I have lost weight and more thrilled that I no longer have to take meds for Type 2 Diabetes and Acid Reflux and that I have more energy. Just need help over this hump? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
