I am also in the uk and have arranged for my 1st consultation with a doctor from the elyzea clinic. His name is Dr Mignon. It takes place on august 4th.

I too have found it difficult getting the finances together. However out of the blue the opportunity arose for me to take redundancy. After much soul searching (You know feeling guilty about spending so much money on myself) i have decided to go ahead with the banding. Once I had made that decision, everything else has fallen into place, as I have been offered another job.

I just hope everything goes well with consultation, and I can have procedure done before starting in my new post.

Meanwhile I hope everything works out for you.

I am more that happy to inform you of my experiences with elyzea if you like.

P.S. I am new to this site, so if I am going over old ground please forgive me.

As before, Shaw is brilliant, a straight talking brilliant surgeon, the best

I had my op last month with him every thing going well, after care brilliant, i had a concern telephoned Bupa and they gave me an appointment that evening with Shaw, service or what? turned out my concern was nothing.

I did consider Belgium due to the cost but am so glad I did,nt as the overall cost of op then of traveling to London for costly fills would work out the same and I have piece of mind that my surgeon is just 10 mins up the road.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
