Lapband Webcast

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this has been mentioned around here before, but I haven't come across it...

This is a webcast from last summer, but I recently came across it and found it pretty cool to see. I think it would be good for anyone who's curious to see what exactly they do in there, and how everything looks. Go HERE and go down the list until you see "Lapband surgery" and go to it. Click on "view live webcast".

You'll need the RealMediaPlayer. If you don't have it there's a link to get it on the left margin of the page I linked to above.

Enjoy!

Wow, this is awesome! I'm watching with great interest.

Ok finished watching it. It's about an hour long and everyone who is interested in the band should watch it. They present a lot of information about the band, the pre and post op diets, they show how fills are done, and you get to watch the surgery via laproscopic cameras. Very cool. The video is about an hour long.

Tricia, ya wimp. *laughs*

I liked the part where they were stuffing their fingers and hands into the holes. Very cool. *grins*

It's actually surprisingly not gross... I was a little leary at first though. The worst thing, I though was when they were putting in the port. They don't show them making the incisions for the laparoscopic ports, or closing them up. C'mon... you know you wanna watch it! I was amazed that the liver actually looks like liver! lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
