I'm two Weeks post OP and I finally slept on my side last night. the side of my port. I didn't feel any pain so I went with it.

Now this morning I wake up and I notice the incision where my port is looks like an indention. It looks sunk in. Before my belly looked perfectly round but now you can see and feel an indention where my port is.

I'm freaking out. Did I do something wrong??? Did it flip???

I started sleepin g on my side after day three. Im not sure why you would have an indention but i dont see how you could have caused any damage.

No. It did not flip.

I have an indentation around incision area too. It's because the incision is a scar that is slightly tighter than rest of skin. As a result, the belly skin around it puffs like normal - the scar doesn't, creating an indentation/pucker.

I expressed concerns to my doc's PA at 1 week visit and she was unphased by the scenarios I asked that could cause port damage (i.e. car accident). She said she's only seen it once and it is rare. sleep position won't flip it bc its sutured into the muscle.

Side sleeping won't damage the port.

Personally, I felt a pulling on the port when I slept on my side because my stomach fat shifts with gravity. You could prop a pillow against your tummy as you sleep so your stomach fat doesn't droop so low, less strain on abdomen.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
