Schedule 1St Fill Apptmnt...

Recommended Posts

I have the choice to schedule my first fill at either 6 or 8 wks. I have to schedule a few months ahead in order to get the nutritional assessment, metabolic assessment, fluoscopic fill, and follow up surgery aptmnts all in one day as I'll be driving 41/2 hours to my fill Dr. I'm having surgery in mexico so I had to find a Dr. near here for follow up care. I was going to have to verticle sleeve done until I found this dr. His name is Dr. Trace Curry near Cincinatti Oh. He takes any patients for any WLS even those who have foreign surgery and even if they have complications. He is known as the band dr. as well. He charges 500.oo for the first fill along with the assessments, x-rays etc following surgery. I felt this was a great dr. to go with because he is very well known esp. in lapband area. I plan to make each fill apptmnt as a little trip to enjoy getting away from home, will probably get a room and stay in cincinatti and maybe go to some of the sights the zoo, etc. on my trips there. I love to go stay at a motel, I LOVE IT, I don't know why but I just find it so relaxing, you don't have to clean, cook, nothin"! Anyways, I think I'll schedule my first apptmnt at 6 wks, so that I can get started on this. Hopefully I'll have some restriction even before the 1st fill. The doc in mexico does not insert any saline into the band before you leave, have to wait for swelling to go down he says... Whatever is the best thing to do is okay with me...I just can't wait to get this done... I have 53 days left, seems like an eternity. I plan to work alot and try to pass the time as quickly as possible...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
