I'm 30.and a mother of 3. I've seriously struggled with my weight since my.last child. I'm currently 205 and with a Bmi of 31. Trying to see if this would be the right choice for.me. I seriously work out and even have been on serious diet meds but nothing seems to.keep the weight off me.. so this seemed like the.next option. I only want to lose 60-65 pounds. Is it possible to lose just a certain amount? I'm scared I.will get way to skinny. Any advice would be wonderful!!!

Unlike gastric, where you don't really have control of where you're body says stop, the band can be adjusted to restrict or allow more food intake, which will then correlate to weight loss or gain.

I'm still undecided if this surgery would be a good option for somebody with a bmi around 30 or less. It's a major surgery and with that comes risk. The band just like exercise and diet meds is a tool.I'm in the losing phase with my band and i learned real ouick that without some major life style changes getting the band would've been a waste. The band may be just the thing to help you keep it off but other changes may also be needed.Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
