Good morning everyone. There is something that I just need to know to make sure I can stop stressing. Does anyone or has anyone heard of band slippage due to rought intimacy? I know everyone is different, but I don't want to mess around and have anything hit or the band slip. Please let me know.

I doubt you could get rough enough to cause the band to slip. I think of the band as a rubber band on the middle of a balloon. If you put too much weight or pressure on the top half of the balloon or try to push too much through it would cause it to slip.

The band is located in the middle of your body. Not sure what you could do physically to force slippage during sex.

Just my 2 1/2 cents here and there is no such thing as a silly question.

Well, your partner would have to be PRETTY large to poke your band, cause it's behind your ribcage!! :-)

But I don't think you need to worry as long as you've healed completely and aren't doing something that can pull your port out of the stitches in your abdominal muscles...

I haven't read anything about this, but if it were an issue, I think medical professionals would likely caution us about it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
