Im looking for a good Dr. In San Antonio. I am very new to this, dont know if om going to go through with this or not. I dont even know where to start. Any advice?

I went with Dr. Wright at True Results San Antonio, He is a very experienced surgeon and the biggest thing is that you get a year of aftercare included (fills and nutrition). I love the staff, they are all very helpful and friendly. Some have even had the lap band surgery too. Also there are patient advocates there that have had the surgery and are great to talk with about any of your concerns. There are support groups as well, I haven't been to one yet....I should though.

TexasJeff went to another Dr, I don't know much about his practice.

Stick around and ask plenty of questions. Keep in mind that any weight loss surgery will be useless unless you beat the food addiction. It is a very real thing.

Hey! I went through true results. They did everything! You can set up a consultation and they tell you everything you want to know, you get to talk to someone that has had the lap band, and a little book about everything you want to know. They set up all the things I needed for my insurance, like the psych evaluation and stuff. So I defiantly recommend going there. My doctor was Dr. Wright, he's very nice, and good at what he does. He also discovered that I had gallstones and removed my gallbladder.

Yessssss!!! Got approved by my insurance today, meeting up with Dr. Wright on the 19th of November. However, I am excited, nervous, anxious and did I say nervous!? Any questions you all can think of that I need to ask Dr. Wright? I wrote all my questions down, but just wondering if I forgot anything. Ready for my new journey.

I was told I had to wait one year for my insurance to approve or deniy this surgery . My year is up in June so I'm hoping by the time they look at everything they will just approve me . I've met every thing they asked for so now I'm in the waitng game. It's just starting to hit me that this is all gonna take place, I'm already getting nervous . And I haven't even been approved!! So I am looking for support too .

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
