It is not the easy way out for sure. I was banded 12/19/11 and its taken me this long to realize that my life will never be the same. I know that sounds stupid but I can actually fully understand it now. There will be foods I will never eat again. Sometimes just that is hard because I didn't get overweight not liking food. Its like someone took my best friend away. This is a physical journey and as well as a mental one. I have come to terms with a lot of it. I am almost 6 months out and have had to change my lifestyle. Not focus my life around food. I guess it still does focus on food just in such a better way. Eating better and being active. It has made me a better person with getting a better attitude with myself. I have lost 65 lbs so far and definitely not done. But for anyone saying we took the easy way out let them walk in our shoes for a week and see if they still say it's the easy way out. I bet they wouldn't say that again! God bless!

Amen! I also tell myself that there is no temptation (junk food) that I will be faced with where God doesn't provide a way out because he always does and sometimes it's as simple as just saying no:-) God bless

I have to say, if there WAS an easy way I would take it for sure! But this definitely isn't it; surgery isn't an "easy way out" (I've never understood people who say that!). I also believe that we who helps ourselves get to where we want to go. So, we can ALL do this!

I'm a nurse.about 10 yrs ago I worked on a floor that did a lot of extended care.this was the place they dropped u off when u were not well enough to go home yet not sick enough to be on a regular floor.anyway...I was about 240 lbs. but carried my weight well and still had the coke bottle shape.we would get a lot of gastric bypass patients who surgery went wrong some kind of way.I would talk about them and say that surgery was " punking out" and that what they get for taking the easy way out :-( Fast forward 10 yrs,100 more lbs.and now shaped like an orange ,now I see the light.Surgery was the hardest decision to make .yes it was risky and I kept thinking about those patients from 10 yrs ago as I was making my decision.but now I understand why.and it's not punking out it's a really brave step !

For me the surgery, and the whole lap band experience has been extremely easy. I have never been able to lose the weight like I did and keep it off as easily as this journey has been for me. Yes, for me it has been the easy way out and it has been wonderful.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
