Frustrated With Lack Of Weight Loss, Help!

So I was banded on 5/15 and at my two week post op visit on 5/29 I had lost 11 pounds since surgery making my total weight loss 45 pounds. However, since that apppointment I have not lost any weight, maybe 2 pounds at most. I know slow weight loss is OK but I am getting a little frustrated so I was wondering if I posted some examples of how I eat during the day some veterans could let me know if I'm doing anything wrong? By the way I am still on my full liquid diet!

Breakfast: 8-10oz of protien shake made in blender with 1-2 scoops of whey Protein Powder, 1/2 cup of fresh frozen fruit, 1/2 cup low fat yogurt OR 1/2 cup skim milk, and occasionally 1 pack of sugqar free pudding pack.

(I ussually have this meal twice a day, once in the morning and once at night to get my Protein in)

lunch - either 6 oz of sugar free pudding or low fat yogurt

dinner - 8 oz of some type of creamy Soup, I've been getting cream of borccli and Tomato and basil from the super market because it tastes a lot better than the canned soup but it makes it hard to know the nutriounal information because there isn't any calorie information on it!

So those are usually my four meals for the day! I also drink coffee occasionally but other than that liquids are only Water and crystal light but I know I am not drinking anywhere near the amount of water I should be. Sometimes if the timing works out I'll have 6 oz if skim milk before bed so that I don't wake up starving in the morning. I'm also not on any of my Vitamins yet becaue I am finding a hard time finding them in the stores. As far as excersie goes I haven't been cleared for any real excersise but my job has my moving around on my feet for hours at a time and I try to go for walks as often as possible.

Also, my nutriosint told me I should be eating ever 2-3 hours but I do not find myself that hungry during that time, which might be because I think my Protein shakes are larger portions than I should be having, but I find myself eating one of my meals then anyway because she told me I'm supposed to which has me worried that I;m not really getting over the whole "mental hunger" vs. actual hunger issue. However, I am never really full during any of these meals, just satisifed and I've never felt any restriction from my band yet, (I don't have a fill yet).

Anyway, if anyone has any tips as to how I can help my wieght los I would really appriciate it, thanks!

I am wondering about the sodium in those eat out Soups my PA told me they are loaded with salt. Also my body is different it wiol hold on to weight and then I will drop 5 lbs almost overnight. Your body does go into shock and thinks you are starving it. Good Luck I think you are doing very well...

1st off. You were barely just banded. Mostly everyone loses a ton at 1st, but as your stomach starts to heal, you start to lose less because you have less restriction. 1st off you are eating Soups and such. you NEED to eat actual food, food. Eating Soup is not going to do you much good other than fill you up with a bunch of salt. They won't do anything for you as far as "restriction" goes. The band works based on the type of food you eat. That's why there are foods known as "slider" foods. And soups and stuff are obviously "slider" foods. When I eat, I get full on things like chicken, veggies etc...I am 10 months out and have lost 70 pounds. Some people within 10 months have lost 120 some have lost 30. We are ALL different. The last 3 months for me I have been nearly at the same weight and just barely started losing again. it was partially my fault for not eating the right foods and not exercising. I also hit many plateaus along my journey so far with the last being the longest.

Well your last appointment was a week ago. Most doctors say you can loose 1-2 pounds per week. If you've lost 2 pounds that's really good.

You mentioned full liquids. My doctor said full liquids was Tomato or squash Soup. The Proteins shakes should not have fruit if you are on full liquids. That would be mushies. Yogurt is also a mushie not a full liquid.

Protein shakes: What is the serving size of your shakes (how many scoops do they call for?)? Mine says one scoop. Your powder should be about 24 g of Protein for less then 120 cals. When adding pudding powder I did 1-2 tablespoons. A whole package seems like a lot. During full liquids I made mine with 3/4 cup fat free milk and 2 "milk cubes" (frozen fat free milk).

Lunch- pudding is not a full liquid it is a mushie and does not have any protein. As I mentioned earlier yogurt is not a liquid but a mushie. Call the doctor's office and ask about the yogurt. If you can have it at this point I recommend Greek yogurt as it has twice the protein and regular yogurt. During Mushie stage I used a hand blender to mince the fruit. I do add splendra since Greek yogurt is sour. I would definately have protein at each meal. Seems like you are having your protein mostly at breafast and dinner.

Here is how I ate during liquid phase

Breakfast

Tomato Soup (added Mrs Dash unsalted chicken flavor spice before heating)

Wait as long as possible and have a Protein shake, made with milk (no fruit)

lunch

Smooth soup Tomato or squash, carrot

shake

dinner

Same

During mushies same plan start with soup and then eat the protein mushie later.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
