I am on my 7th day of post op I am hoping some can shed some light. I was so nervous going through the process. I got sick the first day and a couple days went by where it was just ok, than for the past three days I throw up but nothing comes up not even Water. It is like I am dry heeving and burping that is that is happening. I seem to be uncomfortable not to the point where I need to take my pain meds. I feel nauseous at times. I just don't know what I should expect to feel? Has anyone had discomforts and what did you do to feel better. I call my dr he says it is normal, I had my follow up and i thought maybe my band slipped while i was throwing up he said I am fine. I have my next dr appt in 4 days.

I am just miserable and so very hungry. I am trying to stick to the diet and be strict but I don't even know if I am doing that right. Is it possible that when I drink a protien shake that it is full and than I try to drink liquids and that causes it or could it be my body is rejecting the band. I am so confused and worried and probably over thinking it. Also my dr said it is the swelling inside that would cause the nausea. HELPPPP!!!!!!

The one thing I've learned from reading these boards is that you need to trust your instincts. You may not know the band yet, but you know your body, and you know when something doesn't feel right. Go back to the doc and make him pay attention to you! I'm 2 months post-op and haven't yet thrown up. Throwing up is not a "normal" thing you just have to deal with... My first question to the doc would be to find out if there's liquid in the band, and if there is, have him remove it.

Definatley call your doc any kind of throwin up at that point is dangerous your healing and stitches dont need all that pull... If anything maybe they can give you a shot or patch for nasuea and do an xray to make sure nothin slipped.. Even if its nothin better safe then sorry

Go and see your Dr. You may have been prefilled and combined with the postop swelling that could be causing the problems. Most people that have major discomfort so soon after surgery turn out to have been prefilled.

Ask you doctor for anti-nausea meds.

If you can't take a pill they come in suppositories.

Hi Everyone: I am 8 days post op, i feel like a balloon inflated in my stomach, but i know that its just the way the band is making me feel, at the beginning i kept asking myself "what did i do" was it worth it, but as the days go by i am understanding the way my new stomach is giving me signs of hunger and signs of being full, its aggrevating at times but i understand that it'll take some time for my new stomach to heal and hopefully all of these new feelings will go away..hang in there it'll start getting better!

Marylou,

Bless you, sweetie! This whole thing can leave us feeling SO isolated!

I agree with the person right above me -- I, too, am 8 days post-op and feel like a balloon inflated in my stomach.

I, too, threw up the day after surgery -- most likely because I drank too much too quickly. After that, I was done.

How much and how quickly are you drinking?

The hospital gave me an anti-nausea patch that they said they have GREAT success with -- they last 3 days.

The patch goes behind your ear. It's called Scopalamine. Awesome!!

Keep us updated on how you are feeling!

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I seem to be doing ok, they gave me an anti nausea medication which really seems to help. It is such a learning process and when I get gasy it hurts, if I over drink or eat it hurts. I am trying to just take sips at a time. I find myself getting hungry more often so I will have a Jello or a pudding. Does anyone have any ideas on foods or other options? Mine are getting boring:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
