Not Filled Yet....question

Recommended Posts

so i was just banded on may 23, 2012 and im doing great! finally the gas pain has pretty much gone comes and goes depending upon what i eat. I have been trying to eat really healthy, alot of veges, and stir fry type meals with some chicken thighs thrown in and i like my cheese. I have been eating much smaller portions but i still am finding my self getting hungry etc. Just wanted to see if other people had this before their first fill? i think im hungrier because the swelling in my stomach is probably minimal if at all so i probably opened up more. Im not eating alot of food, just more then i thought i would be banded( thought i would eat like half a cup of food and be full ), although some days i feel it and some i dont, i guess its just the adjustment period.

Until you have some restriction after a couple fills, you'll likely feel like you don't have a band at all. Many refer to the time period between surgery and good restriction as "bandster hell" because you're pretty much working on nothing but will power until you've got enough saline in your band to have good restriction.

Don't be surprised it takes multiple fills before you feel restriction. Hang in there, it gets easier.

I'm still waiting for my first fill...and use FF SF fluids (mostly Water for me) to help manage my hunger.

I drank a lot of Crystal Light in the beginning to help tide me over. I am just feeling like I am in the greenzone now and I am more than a year out from surgery. Good luck to you!

Are you supposed to be eating solids? I was still on full liquids 12 days out. Solids was week 5.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
