Bunnie... I am happy to report that I am down from 262 to 245 as of today. I had a 5 day full liquid pre op that I lost the first 8.5 on and another 8.5 since surgery last Tuesday.

I am wondering if I should be doing more? I've pretty much just done a little walking, a lot of napping and some reading/tv. My family is taking care of everything and telling me to just rest. I am slightly sore but thinking if I got out I might have a little more energy? Any thoughts?

I love that your family is taking care of everything and telling you to rest, great support system! I wish I could give advice but I am not having surgery until July because of my work schedule :( 20 lbs is awesome!

Yesterday I had a work event and went out to lunch with coworkers. I was nervous, but I ordered the Soup. I have to say I did get full pretty fast and the weirdest thing for me was not being able to drink after eating since it's soemthing I used to do ALL the time. We also had a cocktail party to attend last night. I had a couple of the appetizer bites (the ones that were soft) and I was SO full. I didnt feel stuck, but I definitely had that full feeling...almost too full, which I know isnt good to have on day 7. Anyway, I can tell the plication must be working. It was very interesting to see myself in an environment like that where there was so much food and drink and I really had to think about what I was doing -- no mindless eating crabcakes and mini burgers LOL.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
