Dr Questioning Possible Leak?

Recommended Posts

Wondering if this has happened to any one else....I went for my 3rd fill today and my doctor said..hmmmm....not a good sign...he then told me last fill he put in 6ccs...today as hard as he pulled out he could only get 5ccs and that my port had shifted some....

Now the last time I had a fill he had said the same thing but let it go as it happens some times...second time he raises his eye brows..

He told me next time if he cant get out what he put intoday he will bring me for the Xray and if all is ok he will fill me then.....Im a lil worried....I so dont want to go through more surgery as minor as it is....

Oh, that is too bad. I hope it is a fluke.

How long has it been between fills? Saline will evaperate, much slower than Water but it does happen. At my last fill it had been 6 months since I'd been in. My fill was less than what the records. showed.

I was banded on feb. 22. 2012 and yesterday was my 3rd fill.....Im guessing it was 6 wks for my first fill i was 2 CCs missing...2nd fill was 1cc gone...so next check is going to be in 4 weeks....that seems sooo long to have to wait and worry...so to answer its been abour 4 weeks between my fills.....and filled to 7ccs yesterday and i feel no restriction .....

I would ask to have a fill under fluoroscopy done. I went back and forth for waaaay too long with missing Fluid, then Fluid that stayed, and then missing fluid. Turns out my port was leaking and I lost almost 2 years dealing with a leaky port. I kick myself for not being more pro-active and letting it go for so long.

I hope it is a fluke, but if it has happened more than once... I think it needs to be evaluated! Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
