New To App And New To The Idea

Recommended Posts

Am 5'7 and 275. I have never weighed this much in my life and was shocked when u saw the scale. My boyfriend is overweight also and he is the one who introduced me to the Lap Band idea. He wants to get the surgery together, which is fine. I guess I just need justification to the way that I am feeling. I've lost weight by working out insanely, but that was when I was single and didn't have to consider someone else's time. But as I look into the future, when we are married and when we have children, my old work out routine just won't fit in. I just know that I can't weigh this much for the rest of my life, I am scared my boyfriend and I won't be able to live the life with our kids that I had with my parents ( an active one). We have our first seminar next week and are excited about it, and if all goes well then we plan on having the surgery at the end of the year when we both have 10 days off from work. Any encouragement would be great.

Lucky you a built in support system one who understands what you are feeling and only one set of food to make and boy will you save$$$ on eating out and grocerys. You can spend it all on new clothes.. He may lose faster then you darn men always do............... You can excercise together and go to the gym . Good Luck to you and what away to start out a new year and new life..............

You're taking the right first steps. I'd recommend you google Bariatric docs in your area and attend several(not just one) seminars to get a feel for what's to come. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
