Hey Jana -

Just a little encouragement for this pre-op stage - I lost a ton of weight on the pre-op diet. I did the same high Protein / no carb, but also had to cut out sugar. Weight was dropping off like gangbusters. Where in East Texas are you?

Kim,

Thanks!! We eat a low-no sugar diet now, mostly becuz hubbie has diabetes and oldest daughter has tested high in past for sugar levels(but thank goodness we just found out last week that her recent round of blood tests were perfectly normal). But now I must get rid of the carbs....that's my downfall....I love nachos!!!! LOL

I live in Marshall. I grew up and went to all 12 grades of school in Irving. When I married In 1995, I lived in Lewisville, until we moved to Marshall in December of 1998.

Hey how do you get the cute little tickers on your posts????

Hi Jana,

Wow - I work in Coppell just next to Lewisville... you used to live close. Now you're just a hop, skip and a jump to the casinos in Bossier. How fun! My parents live on Cedar Creek Lake (near Athens), but that's still kind of far from you. I know I saw someone on here who lives in East Texas and she seemed nice.

Glad to hear about your daughter. The no sugar thing will be of help to you. It's really not bad on the pre-op. Stay away from those carbs and get the Protein up. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm thinking of going back to that diet because my weight loss has stalled out now for the past 11 days. UGH!

How to set up your ticker:

1. Go to www.tickerfactory.com

2. Click on weight loss link

3. Select a ticker ruler you like by clicking the option button next to the one you choose and then click NEXT

4. Choose a ticker slider you like by clicking the option button next to your choice and then click NEXT

5. Configure your weight tracker by entering you info and the click NEXT

6. You will see a message on the screen that says Done! Your Ticket URL is: (and then there will be a long string of text starting with http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/.....

7. Click your mouse at the beginning of this text (starting with the h in http and drag over the entire line of text. (make sure you highlight the entire line (URL)

8. Press Ctrl+C (hold these keys down at the same time) to copy the text you have highlighted

9. Go back to www.lapbandtalk.com and click the UserCP link

10. Click the link titled Edit Signature

11. Scroll down to the text box titled edit signature and place your cursor where you want your ticker to go

12. Click the icon called insert image - this is the one that is yellow with the two little mountains and sun on it

13. A window will pop up telling you to enter the URL of the image

14. Press Ctrl+V (hold these keys down at the same time) to paste the text you copied in step 8 above into this field.

15. Click ok and you're done! Your ticker should magically appear.

16. Click save signature and you're done - you can update it as often as you want by going to user CP, click on your current ticker and press delete - then repeat these steps to re-add.

That's how I do it anyway :-).

Karrie, you're from Tyler? I was, too. A very long time ago. I went to Bell Elementary School for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades back in the early 60's.

Hi. I live in Texarkana, but lived in Marshall for 4 years from 1998 - 2002. I was banded on 10/26/05, here in Texarkana by Dr. Kailin. Slow going for me but only because I don't do what I'm supposed to do. I'm working on it. I just joined this board last Friday and am very inspired from all the before/after photos. That is one thing that has helped me get my head on straighter. I had my first two meals this last weekend without drinking...a huge feat for me! You'll do just fine and learn a lot from this board in a short time. Good luck...banding just around the corner for you! Yippee!

I live in Lufkin, Texas and I will be submitting all of my information to BCBS (I work for the school district) soon and waiting for approval. I hope to have my surgery over Christmas break so that I will have time off to recover without missing time off of work. Does anyone out there have this insurance? I was told that it paid if the procedure is medically necessary. I also wanted to know if anyone used Dr. Hambrick or Dr. Meyers in Lufkin Texas. This is who I am thinking of using, but I can't find anyone who has used them for the LapBand. Just wanted a little feedback. I would also love to talk to someone out there from my area for support. I need it bad. I am a single parent of four young children and no family around. I work full time and go to school full time as well. Just looking for someone to talk with and maybe for a little encouragment.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
