Hey there! I was banded at Slimband in August 2010. I live in the Kitchener area currently and get my fills done there when I need them. PM me if you have any questions!

Glad to see some fellow Slimbanders! How would you describe your overall experience? Were you happy with the facility and how you were cared for?

I was banded in Dubai 2010, called slim band people when I came to Toronto to keep my eye on the band and to stay on top of things but they refused to take me, they asked me to pay $5000 and I can have fills and refills as much as I want. Total commercialization of this procedure. Why would I want to constantly fill it or de-fill it and refill it. The idea is to adjust the filling when there is a need not as much as you want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They commercialize everything in here. Disgusting. Now, I am having trouble in my stomach, constant throwing up and re flux that I cannot tell the reason becuz I have no place to go to in terms of band and the doctors here keep sending me back and forth not knowing what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, I would say I am very unhappy with their follow up care. I feel like they have my money, and that's it. They didn't even call the day after my surgery to see if I was still alive. It's hard to get in for fills if you work as they don't have anyone on Saturdays anymore. I guess I am happy I had the procedure because I know I would be heavier than I was when I started, but it's definitely been more difficult than I expected, and the weight loss is challenging too.

Hello all,

Slim2009, Did you try going to the SWLC to see Dr. Cobourn? I've been reading other threads and apparently he helped a lot of people who were not banded at his facility. Try him if you have not.

I'm not banded yet, but Slimband was the first place I contacted and had a consult a year ago. I was considering them until I did much research and almost on all threads on the internet, slimband patients are saying the after care sucks. And when something goes wrong, it's hard to get an appointment to see the MDs. So I decided to go with SWLC, apparently their after care is great according to most threads, there were some negative comments, but the positive ones about their overall experience, specially aftercare out weighed the negative ones and it's the oposite for Slimband (according to my 2yrs. research lol).

Hi, I was banded with Dr.C. He is a very nice man. He is located in Mississauga at the Plastic Surgery Clinic or downtown Toronto.

I prefered Miss location, upscale and a lot easier to find without the complications of downtown ( paid parking, traffic, etc.)

I highly recommend Dr.Coburn. Give them a call... speak to Sema. She helped me to understand the differences between Slimband and the Lapband... I first considered the Slimband.

He has lots of staff and... they are all very helpful. I was banded in March '12.

Im under 300lbs and losing the weight slowly. This is a lifestyle change. My stomach understands it but... my mind struggles everyday.

Blessings!

BTW I called these guys, they want me to pay $5000 and I will be able to adjust it as much as I want. This is BS. It is 100% commercialized. What the hell it means adjust it as you please? in one year I only needed to adjust it 2 times. They encourage people to abuse this procedure.

I am v frustrated about this GREED.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
