Hi! I am new to this forum but not to weight loss surgery. I had a Lap-Band done almost 18 months ago. I have had several fills, none recently. Weight loss has been slow for me. I am not much on exercising. Anyway, on to my problem. I have been having horrible bloating and distention to the point that my port site was painful. I could not seem to get relief and went for days without using the bathroom. i added a Fiber pill and drank extra Water but it did not help. I was not constipated, my food intake had really been decreased and I was miserable. No vomitting. The bloating got worse as the day went on or if I ate or drank. Anyone have any ideas?:help:

Hey there,

I'm no expert, but I would call your doctor and discuss your symptoms, it sounds like it could be serious.

I agree - you need to speak to the surgeon. It could be something simple, but won't go away by itself.

Take care, Rachel.

I don't want to hijack your post but the same thing happened to me yeasterday and was just about to post it..so here it goes...Been distended for about 5 days...haven't used the bathrm in about 10 days....been a problem for a long time..was using benefiber and other things but the pain got so bad yesterday evening I called the dr..went to ER and had xrays, bloodwork and abdominal Ultrasound cause he thought it might be gallbladder(people that lose alot of weight sometimes have GB problems),slippage..... anyway everything was fine except that I'm backed up into the small intestine(that's alot of S__T).So now I have to take 60cc of milk of mag. everyday till I have a good BM...Besides the impaction theres a lot of trapped gas causing the pain...Maybe thats what you have..but you should get checked out cause it can be something else...let me know how you do......Cindy

Please call your doctor RIGHT AWAY! This could be something serious, and best not left to a bunch of yahoos (like me) on a message board!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
