Has anyone had Constipation? I'm 7 days post op and had none! I took a stool softener on Tuesday night(nothing). Had 1 cube of a chocolate laxative this am at 4am. Hopefully it will work. I will drink more Water today. I'm scared, I've never had this problem! Do u think it's because I have been on a liquid diet for 3 1/2 weeks? Pre diet surgery I had no problem! Give me ur advice?

Do you feel constipated? I was postop but was really miserable, gas wasn't coming through either. I felt pregnant again. I called my doc and he suggested Milk of Magnesia and if that didn't work, Miralax. If that didn't work, glycerin suppositories and then Fleets enemas if still no results. His 5th suggestion was going to be Mag Citrate. I'd call them though. This is just what was suggested to me.

You can also try adding unflavored benefiber to you liquids. I am fully healed and I dd it to my daily greek yogurt and I think it helps me stay regular.

You can also try Smooth Move Tea. You can purchase it the tea at any grocery store. It has worked wonders for me. I have tried benefiber and it doens't work for me. My doc told me about the tea because I was having the same problem and he told me I could drink it a couple of times a week. You drink it before you go to bed and relief in the morning. Good luck!

Keep taking the stool softeners daily, because it takes 12-72 hours to work. I had to take them every day for probably 3 days til i could have a BM. Also warm liquids may help. I know it's frustrating!

I am in this situation too. I'm 4 days post op and haven't had a BM yet but I'm also on a Fluid only diet so wonder what there is to actually pass. I've been taking Kiwicrush daily to help which is a kiwifruit based fibre product but still nothing. I'm walking twice a day and drinking lots so hopefully it will happen soon. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
